2018 Cole Style!

Been a long while since iv’e done a blog post!

So sorry if I am a touch rusty (also it’s hella early and boooooy am I sleepy)

with that said … SUP FELLAS (AND LADY FELLAS) Welcome back to the blog!

Today I want to reminisce about 2018 and talk about the highs, the lows and everything in between.

So 2017 has just passed. April and I are working in this absolute SHIT HOLE of a cafe together with an absolute TOOL of a “Boss” (child). We have just got our own place and the only two items of furniture we own are a blow up bed, and a Christmas tree. To say this time in our lives was tough is a complete understatement. This was one of the hardest times of my whole life, and Iv’e seen some shit bro!

As the winter months pass and summer peeks round the corner April and I began furnishing our house and building the solid foundations of a friend group. Lots of hard work on our real lives meant OV had to take a backseat.

Summer was in full swing, and the dynamic of the friend group begins to change, causing some difficulties for April and I. Everything worked out though as we are way strong together! We were both working in semi-full time jobs. Myself in a new cafe and April in a retail store! These jobs, are far better than the last one.

Summer fades and winter once again makes itself known. Now, April and I are living in a fully furnished home and our little blog has become a full blown business. We spend the remainder of 2018 working on new and exciting OurVibes stuff while working crazy hours in our jobs over the holiday season.

My 2018 HIGHS

My top three favourite moments of 2018 were

  1. Any and all game nights with friends. Throughout 2018 April and I made loads of new friends and would often invite them over for game nights at our place. These ranged from insane - turn the house into a climbing jungle gym - to - let’s chill on the sofa and chat while we play one game.

2. Setting up my hammock in the park and just zoning out. One of my fave things to do during the summer months was to take my hammock to the park, find a nice high tree and just relax. Complete zen like.

3. Jumping in waterfalls. While the weather was lovely my friends and I went way up north to jump into some waterfalls. It was so much fun and we had a blast.. Even when my car broke down and we ended up stranded there till super late at night. It was mad, but so much fun!

My Lowest 2018 moments

With the highs, I feels it’s important to document the low moments too.

  1. Fighting. During the middle of 2018 April and I hit a rough patch due to some past events. It took a lot of work and sacrifice on both parts but we got through it. We are stronger for it.

2. My Car. The freaking thing broke down so much over 2018 I could have bought a new one with the amount I spent on repairs! Nightmare!

3. Feeling Lost. 2018 has been a rough year to get through. I know it might sound like it’s been nothing but bliss but every day was always met with new challenges. From breaking my fave headphones and longboard and being too poor to replace them, to just generally being in overwhelming debt and having that impact my mental health to a severe degree. Combine that with the constant worry that I couldn’t figure out how to really get OV off the ground and you have yourself a rough year.

To Conclude

2018 has 100% been the year of foundations and growth. April and I had to go through all the tough times to get to where we are now, and equally we had to build the solid support that will see us grow long term.

2019 will be a year of personal growth and achievements. I have many plans and ambitions. But I’ll save those for another post.

Thank you guys so much for reading!

How was your 2018? Did you set any goals and smash em? What about 2019, got any plans??

Let me know and until next time, peace in <3
